Storytelling at LCOR’s Christmas Celebration For Kids
On 17 Dec 2022, PictureThink conducted a story-telling session at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer (LCOR)’s Christmas event. Su Lynn read ‘Just Teddy‘, written by Emily Lim-Leh for two groups of little children. The story was about a teddy bear who looked different from all the other toys and tried very hard to find a group that he could belong to. Then, she shared about how the story encouraged her as she had also struggled with finding acceptance as a child. She had a birthmark on her forehead and felt she did not fit in anywhere, until one day, she finally understood that God had made her special.
Accompanying the story is a craft activity. Su Lynn got the children to draw a portrait of themselves. They then stuck the portrait to a medallion they could wear and were reminded that each of them was special. This craft activity was based on the message in the story: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” ~ Psalm 139:14.
