On 8 Apr 2023, PictureThink Academy’s team met Dan Roam, our Principal, over dinner when he was in Singapore. It was Dan’s first trip to Singapore post-Covid. Dinner was lovely, with great company and engaging conversation. We got to know Dan better in person and benefitted from his insights and perspectives for our visual thinking work.
PictureThink conducted a public Visual Decoder for Stories Storytelling event at Times Waterway Bookstore on 11 Nov 23. We covered the story of “Mabel and the Mountain”, and taught the children how to draw out the key elements of the story using our Visual Decoder template.
Our second Visual Decoder again received impressive entries that showcased children’s creativity and ability to reflect thoughtfully about what they learn from stories. PictureThink participated at the 15th Asian Festival of Children’s Content (“AFCC”) on 25 May 2024. We shared on the topic “The Visual Decoder for Stories” with a diverse group of writers, illustrators, translators, publishers, educators and media professionals.
We are really thankful to be part of a corporate Kids@Work event today. We conducted our Visual Decoder for Stories Programme where we read to kids ‘Flora and Nora Hunt for Treasure’ by Kim Hillyard, then taught the kids to draw simple pictures to consolidate what they learnt.
PictureThink was privileged to conduct a workshop at GoodStart Conference on 29 September 2023 with a group of preschool teachers. We shared on the topic “Harnessing the Power of Your Visual Mind for Lesson Planning”.
